Why We Wear Pink

Author: Heather Hyatt

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for the past few years, we've partnered with Breast Cancer Angels – a non-profit organization that provides immediate and temporary assistance to families affected by breast cancer.

To raise awareness of the disease, we asked our team why they choose to wear pink.

Technical Designer

"I wear pink because I am a survivor!... and I know first hand that it takes equal parts of love, support, hope, and courage to get through the battle."

Sales Assistant

"I wear Pink for my Aunt Sawyer."

Marketing Manager

"I wear pink in honor of family and friends that have been affected by breast cancer."

Ecommerce Designer

"About ten years ago, my mom discovered a lump in one of her breasts. After several blood tests, scans, and appointments, the doctors were certain the growth was benign. They took out the growth and used a harpoon-like instrument to insert a tiny metal ribbon in its place.

The thought of losing my mother to cancer was horrifying. Because of this experience, I talked to my doctor about how to check my own body for abnormal growths. Even though breast cancer mostly affects women, men should check their bodies, too, as this cancer does not discriminate. That's why I wear pink."

Photo Retoucher

"I wear pink because I believe love is an action. This shirt is to remind us to uplift those who have fought, and are still fighting breast cancer."

Digital Marketing Consultant

"I wear pink for my friend Michelle who fought (and beat!) Breast Cancer... she's the bravest person I know!"

Assistant Technical Designer

"Having experienced my own loss and seeing many of my close friends dealing with loss of loved ones to this disease, I wear pink to honor survivors, those who lost the fight, and to help further progress for those still fighting."

"I wear pink for my mom, for my friends, and for women all over the world. "
